SPRINGFIELD – Following the Senate passage of the Fiscal Year 2023 budget, State Senator Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) released the following statement:
“For years, Illinois’ fiscal house was on shaky ground. This year’s budget rights the ship by paying bills early, saving for a rainy day and investing in public safety.
“Illinois residents have been hit hard by inflation. This year’s spending and tax relief plan prioritizes assistance to families by pausing the state’s sales tax on groceries, reducing a proportion of Illinois’ gas tax and providing property tax relief.
“These past two years have put Illinois on a path to recovery while improving the state’s credit rating. Illinois residents deserve a state standing on solid fiscal ground and we are turning the corner to improve lives.”
