Feigenholtz: Supreme Court decision major win in fight for LGBTQ+ equality

CHICAGO – State Senator Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) released the following statement in response to the landmark Supreme Court decision handed down Monday protecting gay and transgender individuals from workplace discrimination:

“No person should have to worry about losing their job or being unfairly discriminated against at work because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This decision will finally extend the workplace protections enjoyed by so many other Americans to the LGBTQ+ community at the federal level.

“During the challenging times we’re living through, this is a beacon of hope for so many Americans who have found themselves treated differently because of who they are. This is a major win in the fight to ensure LGBTQ+ individuals enjoy the same basic civil rights that so many of us often take for granted.”
