Feigenholtz highlights new Illinois LGBTQIA+ hotline, resource hub

State Senator Sara Feigenholtz is highlighting the recent launch of Illinois Pride Connect — a new statewide resource hub and first-of-its-kind legal hotline that expands access to critical information and support for LGBTQIA+ Illinoisans.

“In Illinois, we protect fundamental rights, including the right to access health care and the right to live free from discrimination,” said Feigenholtz (D-Chicago). “We will continue to look for opportunities to support populations being targeted by the administration in Washington, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, so that Illinois remains a place where every person is affirmed, protected and supported.”

LGBTQIA+ communities are facing an unprecedented wave of legal and policy attacks from the current federal administration. These changes are not only harmful — they are cruel and dehumanizing, stripping individuals of their rights, dignity and access to essential services like health care and education. Illinois Pride Connect was created in partnership with LGBTQIA+ organizations to meet this moment.

Supported by an investment from the state and philanthropic support for legal staffing and statewide accessibility, Illinois Pride Connect provides a digital resource hub and a free legal hotline to offer direct support, accurate legal information and a pathway to resist and respond to these escalating threats.

Illinois Pride Connect includes a digital resource hub with legal FAQs, know-your-rights information, referrals to legal and community services and advocacy tools. Illinois Pride Connect also includes a first-of-its-kind legal hotline that provides real-time information and referrals, including on name and gender marker changes, housing and education rights, and access to health care and public benefits. People can call the legal hotline at 855-805-9200 Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“This lifeline will help residents access affirming legal support, trusted resources and tools to advance health, safety and equity for LGBTQIA+ individuals and families,” Feigenholtz added. “I encourage anyone in need of help to utilize the new hotline and resources offered by the state.”
