Feigenholtz announces IDOT grants for local infrastructure improvements

CHICAGO – Last week, the Illinois Department of Transportation unveiled its Multi-Year Plan, a compressive list of all scheduled and future construction projects in Illinois. State Senator Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) announced that some of the grants will be used for infrastructure improvements in Northside communities.

“Making improvements to infrastructure is a simple way to ease traffic congestion as well as make streets safer for drivers and pedestrians alike,” Feigenholtz said. “The projects outlined in the Multi-Year Plan are the ones I requested they prioritize because I believe they will greatly improve our community, so I’m pleased to see that IDOT approved the funds.”

The projects are:

  • Traffic signal modernization at the intersection of Eugenie St. and Clark St.; and
  • Improvements to Addison St. between Halsted St. and Lake Shore Dr. to be more compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The estimated cost of the two projects is $564,000. More information and a full list of IDOT Multi-Year Plan projects can be found here.
