Feigenholtz: 2027 MLB All-Star Game at Wrigley Field will bring economic gains to Illinois

State Senator Sara Feigenholtz praised the recent announcement of the 2027 MLB All-Star Game taking place in Chicago at Wrigley Field, noting the economic boost the event will bring to Illinois.

“For my entire life, I’ve lived in Chicago and been a die-hard Cubs fan,” said Feigenholtz (D-Chicago). “There is no better place than Wrigley to host the All-Star Game. With our rich history, unique traditions and ivy-covered walls, Wrigley is proud to welcome the world to experience this unique event.”

The City of Chicago has previously hosted the MLB All-Star Game seven times – in 1993 at Comiskey Park, 2003 at Guaranteed Rate Field and in 1947, 1962 and 1990 at Wrigley Field.

“Not only am I thrilled Wrigley is hosting the All-Star Game, but as Chair of the Senate Tourism Committee, I am also considering the major economic impact this will bring to the area,” said Feigenholtz. “With visitors coming from all over for the game, we are looking forward to seeing a boost for our hospitality and service industries.”

Past host cities for MLB All-Star Games have seen economic impacts ranging from tens of millions to over $100 million. Revenue from these events is generated through increased tourism, spending on goods and services and job creation.

Additional details about All-Star Week events, such as the All-Star Futures Game, the Home Run Derby, the MLB Draft, community initiatives and ticketing will be announced at a later date.
